Labor Epidural Education Class

Labor epidurals are provided by Valdosta Anesthesia Associates, P.C., a group of anesthetists who provide all anesthesia care for the hospital.

If you are interested in a labor epidural during the delivery of your baby, you must meet the following requirements:

Attend a 30-60 minute education class between the fifth and eighth months of your pregnancy. This class, presented by an anesthesiologist, will inform you of the possible benefits, risks and complications of labor epidurals. The class is presented twice a month in the evening and is held in Training and Education at South Georgia Medical Center.
Sign an informed consent form, stating you acknowledge the risks of having a labor epidural.
Complete an epidural questionnaire regarding your health conditions, medical history and medications you are currently taking.

You can schedule the labor epidural education class when you call to pre-register for your labor and delivery. Please call Centralized Scheduling at (229) 259-4854. Remember, if you have not attended the education class before going into labor, you will NOT be given a labor epidural.

Once you have completed your anesthetic evaluation, financial arrangements can be made. No patient will be denied an epidural because of inability to pay for the service.
