About the Practice

Welcome to Southern OB/GYN

Our Practice

Southern OB/GYN provides specialized care for women in the areas of gynecology, obstetrics and infertility evaluation. We strive to provide the highest-quality health care in a professional setting and hope to maintain your confidence throughout our patient/physician relationship.

In addition to our physicians, our staff includes three nurse midwives and two nurse practitioners. Our midwives are available to offer expert, personalized care to OB patients who prefer the services of a certified nurse midwife. Our nurse practitioners provide specialized care in the areas of gynecological/family planning, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases and medical counseling. They also perform routine gynecological exams and make appropriate referrals for problems outside their area of expertise.

Office Hours

The office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Each doctor has designated mornings or afternoons scheduled to be at the hospital for OB and deliveries or surgical obligations. Routine visits for individual doctors are scheduled around these times.

Appointments

Routine obstetrical visits are scheduled on a monthly and then a weekly basis, depending upon the month of your pregnancy. If your situation is urgent, you will be seen by the doctor who is available at the time.

Our doctors recommend you have a gynecological exam and pap smear once a year. You can schedule an appointment at your current visit, and if you request, a reminder will be mailed to you before your yearly exam.

An urgent visit can be arranged on a same-day basis. Except in the case of emergencies, scheduled appointments have priority. We will fit you into your doctor's schedule as soon as possible. If your doctor is unavailable due to hospital commitments, you may wait, schedule your appointment the next day or see another one of our doctors. We realize long waits are uncomfortable and will do our best to minimize waiting time.

Please be on time for your appointment; if you must miss your appointment, call our office to cancel as soon as possible.

Phone Calls

Our main phone number is (229) 241-2800. After regular business hours, you may leave a message, and we will return your call the next morning. If your call is an emergency, you may call the hospital at (229) 333-1000 and ask for the physician on call for our group.

During office hours, the nurses on duty will handle calls concerning medical questions. If you need to speak to a doctor, nurse midwife or nurse practitioner, he or she will return your call as soon as possible.

At Southern OB/GYN, it is our goal to provide professional and courteous medical care.
